Who am I?
I’m Katie White, an independent gap and bridge year consultant helping students ages 16-24 design intentional pathways before, during, and after college.
In today’s rapidly changing world, there is no single “right” path. The traditional U.S. college timeline often leaves little room for students to clarify who they are becoming or what truly fits their needs. Whether a student is seeking work experience, travel, or personal growth, thoughtfully designed gap and bridge year experiences can be transformative!
This work is deeply personal to me. When my son Henry was determined to go abroad at 16 to join the international soccer community, we had to navigate complex challenges without an EU passport. The rewards have been extraordinary, both academically and personally. As other families began reaching out for guidance, it became crystal clear to me that students, now more than ever, are searching for post-graduate opportunities and alternative pathways - without fear that college will fall apart.
I serendipitously fell into the Gap Year space, joined the Gap Year Association, immersed myself in the community, and have never looked back. Today, I am a passionate advocate for intentional exploration because I have seen, over and over, that the path to confident, fulfilled futures is rarely a straight line. With time, support, and permission to explore with purpose, students discover clarity, confidence, and direction that can set them up for life. This is why, when gap and bridge years are planned properly with positivity, structure, and clear objectives, colleges actively encourage them.
Before racing off to college, or if you find that your child is feeling unsure about his or her current college experience, why not learn more? Call me for a free 30-minute consultation.

“Katie helped me during one of the hardest times in my life when I felt completely lost. As a Ukrainian student, my situation was not easy, but she made everything clear and possible. She is an incredible person — kind, patient, and so easy to work with. She truly listened to what I wanted and helped place me in a school in Miami and on a soccer team exactly as I hoped. I’m extremely grateful for her support and highly recommend her.”
